BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
The Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program that will be used for students in grades 6-8. Students read books and come together usually in groups to demonstrate their abilities and to test their knowledge of the books from a predetermined list. The student competitions are similar to the TV series Family Feud or Whiz Kids. Students will have opportunities to meet with teachers, parents, and community members in book clubs to discuss the books prior to competition. The aim is to support students in their love and discovery for reading by introducing them to quality literature, to offer books that build upon historical values and the dignity of life, and to develop friendships between students based upon socialization, competition, and mutual respect.
RVMS Battle of the Books will meet every Wednesday in Mrs. Finn’s room from 2:50-4:15. Contact Mrs. Finn for more information.
