Important Tech Information for 7th & 8th Grade

Technology is Here!

This year at Rincon Vista, we are fortunate enough to have the exciting opportunity to be able to provide a school-issued Chromebook for all 7th and 8th grade students. This means that students will now have the ability to take an RVMS Chromebook home to use for both school and personal use.

In order for students to take their issued computer home nightly, they will need to have the RVMS Self-Insurance policy current and paid for. Students who have not paid for the insurance will only have access to their issued devices while on the RVMS campus and are still responsible for the device as a whole. If parents would prefer to provide their student with a personal laptop, you will need to submit the Laptop Choice Form and ensure that the device meets the minimum requirements. Personal Chromebooks and devices that do not meet the minimum requirements are NOT allowed on campus

Throughout the year, students will be expected to have their Chromebook and charger as a critical component of their daily school supplies. If for any reason they have an issue with their issued devices, they need to contact the Tech Office immediately. Students will have an online support request submission as well as more immediate support available for more urgent needs.

As students have more technology available to them, they will be able to learn and experience new things like virtual field trips, classroom collaboration, and so much more that were previously unimaginable in schools. Part of this will be facilitated using our learning management system, Schoology. Moving forward, it will continue to be very important both that you utilize your parent account and that students are working diligently on their online work, even when at home.

We will not be holding a formal parent informational session to go over the paperwork and requirements; instead, we will have a combination question and answer with support session going on in the RVMS Community Room throughout Open House on Thursday, August 1st from 6-7:30pm. Please feel free to stop by to ask any questions you may have or get help with your PowerSchool and Schoology parent accounts.

All required technology paperwork was sent home with your student today. Please sign and return the Responsible Use Policy, Self-Insurance Form, and Insurance premium payment (cash or checks made out to RVMS) as soon as possible but no later than Friday July 19th at 3:30pm.

I am so looking forward to a great year with technology at RVMS. Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.
