Gifted Learning in Vail
In the Vail School District gifted students are placed in the Extended Learning Program (ELP). They receive special services to support their gifted needs at their school sites.
ELP at RVMS
Gifted services are primarily delivered through an Advanced English Language Arts (ELA) class at each grade level, which is co-taught by the Gifted Teacher and a grade level ELA Teacher. The Advanced ELA class places an emphasis on critical thinking, analysis, collaboration and oral and written communication.
Gifted students are also offered enrichment during one period of the day where they collaboratively research, design and critically think through the process of designing and building cities of the future and other STEM-based projects.
Social-emotional learning and support is also provided for gifted students and targeted to their specific needs as gifted individuals.
