Please review the the following information related to Chromebook checkouts for the 24-25 School year:
I hope that your summer has been relaxing and a time to recharge. As we look forward to having students return to campus, we are working diligently to prepare for all students to have a Chromebook again this year. Throughout the school year, all students will need to have their school-issued Chromebook with them on a daily basis as teachers consistently integrate technology into their instruction to help support student growth and learning.
We will continue providing a Chromebook and charger for all students. Personally purchased Chromebooks/laptops are not allowed on campus for any reason. Our goal is to have students begin the first day with their school-issued Chromebook. To facilitate this, Chromebook checkouts will begin during the week of July 8.
To ensure a more efficient process, an appointment will be required this year in order to check out a Chromebook for your student. Please make a separate appointment for each RVMS student in your household by clicking HERE.
In order for students to check out a Chromebook, families must do the following (preferably before your appointment):
- Complete the Returning Student Registration in PowerSchool.
- Please EMAIL our RVMS Tech Team if you need assistance with your username/password.
- Resolve any outstanding fees. If you have any outstanding fees, If you have any outstanding fees, an invoice was emailed on July 28. .
- Read and accept the Responsible Use Policy online.
- Read and accept/decline the Self-Insurance Policy online.
- If you are accepting the Self-Insurance, please bring the $40 premium to your appointment. We can only accept cash and checks (payable to RVMS) in person.
- If you wish to pay by credit card, please pay the insurance fee through PowerSchool.
Sixth-Grade Families - For your student to be issued a Chromebook, you must also complete the mandatory Residence Verification Form and bring it to your Chromebook checkout appointment with the supporting documents if you haven’t already submitted them to us. Please provide one document from each section so that we can update your child’s permanent folder. You can scan and email the documents to our registrar, Jerrlene Fanco, at francoj@vailschooldistrict.org or bring copies that you can leave with us to your Chromebook Checkout appointment.
No Chromebooks will be issued to students who have outstanding fees from last year or who do not have the required paperwork submitted. Please complete the above steps as soon as possible. Having these steps done in advance of your appointment will make the process smoother for you the day of your appointment.
Students who do not check out a device prior to school starting will be issued one during the first weeks back.
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions and I look forward to seeing you soon!
Sincerely,
Ms. Abigail Alden
