Dear RVMS Families,

The last day of the 2024-2025 school year is approaching fast! Starting this year, we will not be collecting student Chromebooks over the summer for our returning students. This means that all current 6th and 7th graders who are returning to RVMS next year will take their Chromebooks and chargers with them over summer break and return with them in July. Here is some important information related to this change:

  • Chromebooks will be disabled during the summer and students will not be able to use them during this time. They will be reactivated before the start of next school year as the necessary paperwork is filled out. Please keep an eye out for an email in late June describing the process.

  • Deactivating Chromebooks ensures that parents do not need to monitor students' Chromebook activity over the summer and all that needs to be done is to store the Chromebook and charger in a safe place.

  • If a student’s Chromebook is damaged, we will be visiting classes near the start of next school year to assess the status of Chromebooks and make any needed repairs. If a repair is needed before the start of next school year, students should bring their device to the RVMS tech office.

  • If your student is NOT returning to Rincon Vista Middle School next year, please email* the tech office and we will collect the Chromebook the final week of school. And, if you haven’t already, please also let our Registrar, Jerrlene Franco know by calling 520-879-3213 or emailing francoj@vailschooldistrict.org.

  • If you have any questions about our Chromebook summer plan, please contact the tech office by email at rvmstech@vailschooldistrict.org. Or, call our Site Technology Coordinator, Abbie Alden, at 520-879-3207.

RVMS is excited to implement this change, as it will save families time at the start of the next school year by eliminating the need to pick up a Chromebook the week before school begins. It also gives students, whose families were previously unable to pick up a device, the opportunity to start the year with a Chromebook. Additionally, this change aligns RVMS with the district’s high schools and several other middle schools, where returning students keep their Chromebooks over the summer break.

Thank you and have a wonderful remainder of the school year.
